Community Sensitization on IPV – Suprudo, Ekumfi District
Renel Ghana Foundation, in collaboration with lead partner Songtaba and with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, supported a community sensitisation session in Suprudo on intimate partner violence (IPV). With technical support from the Ghana Health Service and the Department of Social Welfare, the session encouraged open dialogue on healthy relationships and collective responsibility for preventing violence, and reinforced local referral and support pathways for survivors.
Key points
Outcomes: increased community awareness; clearer referral routes to health and social services; volunteers identified to act as community champions; plan agreed for follow‑up sensitisation sessions.
Purpose
- Raise awareness about intimate partner violence and its local drivers to shift harmful norms.
- Promote healthy relationships by equipping community members with practical communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Strengthen local response by clarifying where survivors can seek confidential help and how community actors should respond.
