Media Advocacy: Radio Universe Engagement

As part of advocacy efforts under the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women, Renel Ghana Foundation, representing the SDG 5 Platform, engaged audiences on Radio Universe to raise awareness and strengthen collective action against violence targeting women and girls.

Purpose

  • Mobilise families and communities to play active roles in prevention and protection.
  • Highlight the rise of Sexual and Gender‑Based Violence (SGBV) and its impact on communities.
  • Address digital violence and promote online safety for women and girls.
  • Promote survivor‑centred support systems to ensure dignity and recovery.
  • Strengthen accountability mechanisms across institutions and communities.

Activities delivered

  • Radio discussion: live engagement with audiences on SGBV, digital safety, and survivor support.
  • Expert facilitation: led by Mr. Benjamin Edward Abaidoo (Monitoring & Evaluation Officer) and Madam Barikisu Mahei (Regional Girls’ Advocate and Admin & Finance Officer).
  • Awareness raising: practical insights shared on reporting pathways, accountability, and safeguarding.
  • Community mobilisation: call to action for families, schools, and institutions to strengthen prevention.
