World Children’s Day Celebration – Old Lashibi

Under the theme “Listen to Children: My Day, My Rights,” Renel Ghana Foundation engaged pupils of Old Lashibi TMA Primary School to promote child rights, confidence, and participation.

The engagement created a safe and interactive space for children to learn about their rights, express their voices, and build confidence in claiming protection and participation.

Purpose

  • Promote child rights awareness among pupils.
  • Encourage children’s participation by amplifying their voices.
  • Strengthen safeguarding practices through education.
  • Reinforce inclusive development by centering children’s experiences.

Activities delivered

  • Interactive discussions on rights to education, protection, and participation.
  • Confidence‑building exercises to help children speak up.
  • Rights education using child‑friendly materials.
  • Feedback sharing where pupils expressed aspirations and challenges.

Outcomes and next steps

  • Longer term: embed child participation and safeguarding into community development initiatives.
  • Immediate: children demonstrated improved understanding of their rights and confidence in expressing themselves.
  • Short term: integrate child rights discussions into routine school activities.
  • Medium term: expand engagements to other schools in the district.
