Strengthening the GBV Response in Ekumfi District

Renel Ghana Foundation, in partnership with Songtaba and with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, successfully completed a Survivor‑Centered Care training for frontline service providers in Ekumfi District. The training strengthened multi‑agency coordination and practical skills for compassionate, timely responses to gender‑based violence.

  • Build trauma‑informed capacity among health, protection and social welfare actors.
  • Standardise referral and case‑management practices across agencies.
  • Improve survivor safety and reintegration through coordinated psychosocial and protection responses.

Participants and roles

  • Participants: district social welfare officers, DOVVSU officers, health clinicians, community protection volunteers, local NGO staff and district assembly representatives.
  • Facilitators: Renel Ghana Foundation trainers, Songtaba technical advisors and guest resource persons from health, police and legal aid.
  • Commitments: agencies nominated referral focal persons and agreed to pilot standard intake and referral tools.
