Alorkpem Community Resilience Team Engagement with Community Elders and Legal Aid – Ada East District

Renel Ghana Foundation, under the Gender Rights and Empowerment Project and in partnership with Songtaba, supported a convening led by the Community Resilience Team in Alorkpem. Community elders and representatives from Legal Aid joined district and local actors to review ongoing interventions and agree collective approaches to advancing gender rights and protection services within the community.

Purpose

  • Strengthen coordination between community elders, Legal Aid and local service providers to improve protection for survivors.
  • Review progress on current GREP interventions and identify gaps in service delivery.
  • Agree community‑led strategies to promote gender rights, safe reporting and survivor support.

  • Legal protections and how Legal Aid can support case follow‑up and access to justice.
  • Community roles in prevention, stigma reduction and reintegration of survivors.
