International Day of Education 2025

At Renel Ghana Foundation, we are committed to promoting quality and inclusive education for all children of school going age in Ghana! In today’s 21st digital world, guiding school children to safely and efficiently use AI is more important than ever.

In light of this, we collaborated with the Adenta Municipal Directorate to celebrate the 2025 International Day of Education under the theme: “AI and Education: Harnessing Girls’ Innovation in the Age of AI.” Seventy female students in Sowadin Junior High School demonstrated their innovative and critical thinking skill and with the support of AI created new things. This was done under the guidance of school facilitators and the adherence of our Child Safeguarding Policy which clearly defines how to protect children in all our activities.

It was a delightful moment to see the innovative things the students were able to create on their own—From learning platforms to beautiful artefacts.  We donated an electric sewing machine to one of the students who designed a very unique dress. This was to encourage her to begin her creative ideas in fashion designing.

While the AI is a great platform to learn and gain insights, it also comes with risks like cyberbullying through the store of personal data which can find it way to violate children’s rights and the dependence on it may reduce critical thinking and innovation.

That’s why Renel Ghana Foundation used the opportunity to hold an education session to highlight how to navigate AI in a safer and efficient way without losing oneself.
